The Classic Festival at the Culture School in Gävle is now a cherished tradition. This is the seventh time Gävle municipality is inviting culture school students from the entire county to celebrate classical music together. Up to 100 students from culture schools in Gävle, Sandviken, Ljusdal, Ockelbo, Bollnäs, and Söderhamn will participate in workshops and performances.
New for this year is that musicians from the Gävle Symphony Orchestra are participating in a joint chamber music project. Gävle and Sandviken culture schools, together with the orchestra, have selected pieces for three chamber music ensembles. During the festival, musicians will guide students with educators.
I am proud of the fine tradition of the Classic Festival at the Culture School in Gävle, and this year I am particularly happy for the collaboration that students and educators have with the Gävle Symphony Orchestra in the chamber music project. The students get to experience learning from and playing together with orchestra musicians and perhaps be inspired to a future career in music.
In the morning, workshops on classical music include rhythmics, dance, painting, and mallet. In the afternoon from 3-6 PM, students give three concerts at the Culture School. The concerts are open to the public with free admission.
