According to major media reports, Gavin White, 46, suffered a seizure on a beach in Greece in July 2023 while on holiday. He had been experiencing headaches, confusion, changes in eyesight, and unquenchable thirst at night. After returning to Britain, scans at Bedford Hospital revealed a glioblastoma brain tumor. Doctors gave him between six to 14 months to live.

White was moved to Addenbrooke's Hospital for an awake craniotomy, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy. His tumor is currently stable. According to Daily Mirror - Main, White described how everything happened quickly and that he was told bluntly about his prognosis, but he never gives up and stays positive to raise money for research.

White, founder of Autotech Group from Ampthill, Bedfordshire, has raised more than £100,000 for Brain Tumour Research. He completed the TCS London Marathon at the weekend and is training for the Milton Keynes Marathon in 2025. According to Daily Mirror - Main, White said he had no desire to do a marathon before his diagnosis but now it keeps him mentally occupied and physically fit. Approximately 3,200 people in the UK are diagnosed with glioblastoma annually.
