Four volunteer sea rescuers in Nynäshamn, Sweden, saved two people who ended up in the cold October water during a high sea, hard wind, and darkness. The rescue occurred one evening in the autumn storm in October 2025. The two people were clinging to a wooden bunk from a sunken boat, with one using a flashlight to signal in the dark.
The rescuers, who were all at the station when the alarm came, quickly manned their boats and set out. They credit their training and teamwork for the successful operation. The rescuers have been named Rescuers of the Year for their efforts.
