Key Points
  • Four lynxes were recorded on a surveillance camera near a home in Stråtjära, Sweden.
  • The resident's cat ran inside scared, prompting her to check the footage.
  • The family now restricts their cat from going outside in the evenings due to the lynxes.

A resident in Stråtjära, Sweden, captured four lynxes on a surveillance camera passing close to her home. Camilla Wengelin, who lives in the village, saw the animals on the camera after her cat Louis ran inside, visibly scared. She initially thought one was an unusually large cat but realized it was something else.

The family first thought there were three animals, but the footage shows a fourth shadow just before the camera turned off. Wengelin has mixed feelings about the lynxes, finding them fantastic and belonging in nature but also unsettling due to their proximity to her home. As a result, the family's cat is no longer allowed outside in the evenings.
