According to Midi Libre, a 14-year-old student from the private Bobée middle school in Yvetot, Seine-Maritime, died after a fall in Athens, Greece, during a school trip. The incident occurred on the evening of March 5. Midi Libre reports that the teenager fell from a third-floor window of the youth hostel where he was staying with his group.

He was in Greece with 62 other students and six supervisors for a four-day educational trip. The student was transported to the hospital and succumbed to his injuries the following night. The rest of the school group returned to Normandy in the night from Friday to Saturday.

Greek police have opened an investigation to determine the exact causes of the accident. In France, the Rouen prosecutor's office has also launched a procedure for 'investigation into the causes of death', entrusted to the Yvetot gendarmerie research brigade. The investigation aims to assist Greek authorities if additional hearings or checks are necessary.

The accidental cause is currently favored by investigators. In contrast, CNN Greece reports that a 15-year-old student from France was found dead after falling from the third floor of a hotel in the Exarchia area. The minor was transported by EKAB (Greek ambulance service) and pronounced dead at the pediatric hospital in Athens.

He was in Greece as part of a school trip. The serious incident occurred on Thursday evening around 9:30 PM. CNN Greece states that the child of French origin, approximately 15 years old, fell from a third-floor hotel balcony into the void.

Other children from the same school as the 15-year-old are reported to be staying at the same hotel. The exact cause of the fall has not been determined, and it is unclear what safety measures were in place at the accommodation. The investigations by Greek and French authorities are ongoing.
