French police have heightened security across the Paris area due to an elevated international threat level. This follows police thwarting a suspected attack plot against Bank of America in the capital over the weekend. According to reports, a minor was recruited via Snapchat and promised 600 euros to place an explosive device outside the bank's headquarters.
French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez linked the foiled plot to the war in the Middle East. The French police have reinforced protection around religious and cultural sites, diplomatic premises, and important economic interests.
