In Upplands Väsby outside Stockholm, Maundy Thursday was celebrated with a heartwarming tradition as a group of children dressed as Easter witches visited their elderly neighbors at a local nursing home. According to Sveriges Radio, the children from Fantasia preschool visited Hedvigsgården nursing home as part of a regular intergenerational program. Preschool teacher Sabina Carlsson told the broadcaster that the visits mean a great deal to both the children and the elderly residents.
"The children long for their 'oldies,' as they call them," Carlsson said. The children reportedly visit the nursing home several times each month, maintaining ongoing relationships with the residents. The Maundy Thursday visit featured the children dressed in traditional Swedish Easter witch costumes, continuing a cultural tradition while fostering community connections between generations.
