Ronald Henyard, 65, was shot in the neck in an alley in the 1300 block of South Kedzie Avenue in Chicago's North Lawndale neighborhood at around 5:54 PM on Wednesday, according to police. He was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital and remains in serious condition. Tiffany Henyard confirmed on social media that her father Ronald was the victim in the shooting.

In response, Henyard called for Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson to reconsider federal assistance from President Donald J. Trump. No arrests have been made and detectives are investigating.

Henyard is now running as a Republican in Georgia after relocating following her time in Illinois politics. Tiffany Henyard served as mayor of Dolton from 2021 to 2025 and also led Thornton Township. Current Dolton Mayor Jason House said he was saddened by the shooting and offered support to Henyard's family.
