A former home care worker in Helsingborg has inherited approximately 8 million kronor from Bertil Timan, a retired Ica store owner she previously cared for, according to an investigation by Expressen. The woman, who worked for Helsingborg's municipal home care service, reportedly transferred over 1 million kronor from Timan's bank account to her own private account before his death in May 2023.
Bertil Timan and his wife Siv had built a fortune of over 50 million kronor from their Ica store in Vimmerby before retiring to Helsingborg. After Siv Timan's death in 2020, the former home care worker maintained contact with Bertil Timan and gradually took control of his finances, obtaining power of attorney and access to his bank accounts.
I had a very fine relationship with Siv and Bertil. This dispute has been going on for three years because some people want to destroy everything Bertil and Siv decided.
Police investigated the woman for suspected serious bribery, theft, and usury after relatives of Siv Timan filed a report. The investigation revealed 1,567 transactions from Timan's accounts between 2020-2023, totaling around 2 million kronor, with over 1 million kronor transferred to the woman's account under the category 'Gifts'.
Despite the police investigation, prosecutors dropped the case, stating there was insufficient evidence to prove criminal activity. Helsingborg District Court also ruled in favor of the woman regarding the inheritance dispute. The former home care worker reportedly received a total of approximately 10 million kronor from Timan, including the inheritance, car purchases, and various transfers.
When contacted by Expressen, the woman defended her relationship with the Timans, stating: 'I had a very fine relationship with Siv and Bertil. This dispute has been going on for three years because some people want to destroy everything Bertil and Siv decided.'
