In Örebro, Sweden, Fontänhuset provides support for individuals aged 16 to 66 living with mental illness, without requiring a specific diagnosis. The facility offers a voluntary, unpaid day activity where members can engage in tasks like cooking, writing for a newspaper, or gardening. Members choose how often, with which tasks, and how long they participate, helping them break isolation and build a structured daily life.
Anni and Felicia, who found the facility last year through the #framtid project, report that it has made things feel possible again after years of mental health struggles and attempts to work or study. Fontänhuset also offers individualized support for those aiming to enter work or studies, including help with CV writing or finding internships. There are 18 Fontänhus facilities across Sweden, from Malmö to Östersund, all run as non-profit organizations with the goal that no one falls through the cracks.
