The alarm about the accident came in at 11:43. According to police, five cars were involved in the traffic accident on the E4, south of Salem in the direction towards Stockholm. Three people were taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Per Fahlström, Stockholm police press spokesperson, said the three people were awake and able to speak. The three people taken to the hospital have unclear injury status. The police state that the accident likely occurred during a lane change.

A safety vehicle is on site and only two lanes are open. Traffic is affected by only two lanes being open past the accident site. Traffic is moving slower past the accident site but should then proceed normally, according to Per Fahlström, Stockholm police press spokesperson.

Four cars are to be towed. The cause of the accident beyond the likely lane change has not been determined. How long the traffic disruption will last is unknown.
