The first-ever Byggkollo (Construction Camp) will be held on Gotland this summer. The Byggkollo is a day camp taking place from June 12 to June 17, and 20 children will get the chance to participate. The last registration day is May 17.
During the camp, children will try activities such as sawing, nailing, screwing, and pouring concrete. They will work practically in Wisbygymnasiet's construction halls, building box cars throughout the week. The camp concludes with a box car race where children compete with cars they built themselves.
They will be supervised by teachers from the construction and civil engineering program and students from the child and leisure program. The event is carried out in collaboration with Byggföretagen and local entrepreneurs. The basic idea is to inspire children to creative and practical professions in the future, giving a taste of the different professions in the construction industry.
