Pablo Piñones-Arce has extended his contract with Fiorentina until summer 2028, while Madelen Janogy has signed a deal running until the 2027/2028 season, according to multiple reports.
Piñones-Arce became head coach of Fiorentina's women's team in summer 2024, according to major media reports. He previously won the Damallsvenskan with Hammarby IF in 2023 before leaving his role as head coach and moving to the USA, where he became technical director of Houston Dash in the NWSL. He left that role in November 2024.
We decided to extend Piñones-Arce's contract to continue our project. At the beginning of last season, the club decided to choose a foreign coach, with other methods and a different mentality. The goal is to create a long-term setup - and that takes time and work.
"First and foremost, I want to thank the Commisso family and the club's management for initially believing in me and for continuing to believe in me," Piñones-Arce said in an official statement. "I share the club's vision and the goals that have been set." He added that the team has made changes this season that have taken them in the right direction, but stressed that their work has only just begun.
Sporting director Simone Mazzoncini said the club decided to extend Piñones-Arce's contract to continue their project, noting that the goal is to create a long-term setup.
Fiorentina's women's team currently sits in seventh place in the league, according to two sources. Janogy, who has played 58 matches for Sweden's national team, was not included in the most recent national team squad, multiple reports said. "I want to thank the club, the Commisso family and everyone I have met in Fiorentina," Janogy said in an official statement. "I feel incredibly comfortable in the club and in the city."
