Five men have been sentenced for their involvement in a kidnapping attempt on the E16 highway near Kungsgården, Sweden, according to local media reports. The incident occurred when a white van deliberately collided with a Tesla on the entrance ramp to the highway. The driver of the Tesla initially believed the collision was an accident but soon realized several men were attempting to kidnap him.
The motive for the kidnapping attempt was reportedly to pressure the victim regarding cryptocurrency. Of the nine individuals originally charged in connection with the incident, five were convicted on Wednesday. The victim, a man in his 50s, managed to resist the masked attackers and escape with his vehicle.
The case involved heavily armed police officers during the subsequent manhunt for the perpetrators.
