The crash occurred on Sunday morning when a car drove off the road at the Klareberg junction on the E6, overturned, and burst into flames. Police announced early Monday that the man involved had died, and no other person was involved in the incident. On the M25, four lanes were closed anti-clockwise between junction 13 (A30 Staines) and junction 12 (M3) due to a two-vehicle crash and vehicle fire.

Surrey Fire and Rescue received a call at around 14:05 to a vehicle fire on the M25 between junctions 14 and 13, dispatching four fire engines that arrived at 14:15. A spokesperson said three vehicles were involved in the collision, with two alight, and crews were still tackling the fire.
