In Sweden, a woman driving near Gävle was the only one to escape without injuries in a fatal crash, according to official sources. She is charged with causing the accident that had fatal consequences for her passengers. The woman was driving at 154 kilometers per hour in a 70 km/h zone when the accident occurred. Four people were traveling in the car after attending an introduction course for a new job when the accident happened, officials said. Suspicions of gross drunk driving against the woman have been removed, the same sources confirmed. In a separate but related case, a woman in her 25s was sentenced to prison for gross negligence in traffic, causing two deaths and one injury in a crash in Gävle, multiple media reports indicate.

In the United Kingdom, a man in his 60s was struck by a car in a gym in Bury and suffered non-life-threatening injuries, according to Greater Manchester Police. A woman in her 40s has been arrested on suspicion of causing injury by dangerous driving in that incident and remained in hospital, police said. In London, a woman has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a car hit pedestrians in central London, injuring three people, multiple reports state. A 29-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving and drink driving, the Metropolitan Police confirmed. Emergency services were called to East Ferry Road, near Crossharbour DLR station, at 2.16pm following a traffic incident, a London Ambulance Service spokesperson said. They treated three people, taking two to hospital and discharging a third at the scene. Photographs show a traffic light knocked down with a damaged car next to it at the scene. Police officers dispersed people at the scene, and East Ferry Road was closed both ways around Pepper Street for hours, with bus routes diverted.

Also in the UK, two people have died following a serious collision between a lorry and a van on the A14 in Northamptonshire, according to multiple sources. Northamptonshire Police confirmed a crash occurred between a white Volkswagen Caddy and an HGV lorry on the westbound carriageway of the A14. The incident took place between Welford and the M1 interchange at Catthorpe just after 21:00 GMT on Wednesday. In the crash, the passenger in the Volkswagen, a man in his 40s, died at the scene and the driver, a man in his 20s, was believed to have exited his vehicle but was struck and killed.

In California, two people were killed in a head-on collision on Monday involving a wrong-way driver, according to multiple sources. The three-vehicle collision occurred on White Rock Road near Prairie City Road south of Highway 50 around 8:20 a.m., the California Highway Patrol reported. The wrong-way vehicle was driven by a 41-year-old man traveling west on eastbound White Rock Road when it crashed into a vehicle driven by a 21-year-old woman, CHP officials said. Another eastbound vehicle traveling behind the woman also became involved in the crash and spun out of control. The driver of the third vehicle suffered minor to moderate injuries, the CHP stated. Witnesses reported that the wrong-way driver was speeding around 80 to 100 mph just before the collision occurred. The CHP is currently investigating the collision and why the wrong-way driver was driving recklessly.

In a separate California incident, two people died and two California Highway Patrol officers were injured when a pair of crashes ended a pursuit in San Leandro early Saturday morning, authorities said. CHP officers attempted to stop the driver of a white Mercedes sedan traveling at high speeds on westbound Interstate 580, east of Eden Canyon Road in Castro Valley, just before 3:45 a.m. The driver of the Mercedes took off from officers, beginning a pursuit that continued into San Leandro. CHP officers said the driver tried to exit onto East 14th Street from the westbound Interstate 238. The Mercedes vehicle crashed into a sound wall, officers reported. Two officers in a CHP unit tried to take the same exit and also crashed into the sound wall, according to the CHP. The CHP unit did not crash into the Mercedes, authorities confirmed. The driver and one passenger in the Mercedes were pronounced dead at the scene. A third passenger in the Mercedes was taken to a nearby hospital with major injuries. Both CHP officers were taken to a hospital with 'major, non-life-threatening injuries,' authorities stated. The CHP's Golden Gate Division Multi-Disciplinary Accident Investigation Team is investigating the San Leandro crash. Officials have not released the identities of the two people who died.

Previous convictions for dangerous driving in the UK include Natalie Alice Shaw losing her licence for six months after driving off with a road-raging driver gripping onto her bonnet, according to multiple media reports. A 19-year-old woman was convicted for driving without a license and fined, after claiming she accidentally rolled the car, reports indicate. Faye Dawson was sentenced to prison and disqualified from driving for dangerous driving while drunk, with children in the car. A woman in Västervik was convicted for causing another's death after hitting a man at an unmarked crosswalk.

Law enforcement agencies across the jurisdictions are emphasizing the serious consequences of reckless driving. Investigations continue into several of the crashes to determine full causes and potential legal outcomes. The legal outcomes for the woman arrested in central London for attempted murder are pending as the investigation proceeds.
