Joar Thoong, 10, shares a workplace with his father, Trung Thoong, as extras in the musical Miss Saigon at the Gothenburg Opera. The musical, set in Vietnam in the 1970s and dealing with the Vietnam War, has been at the opera house since last September. Joar and Trung Thoong have no prior experience in acting or musicals; Trung works in a warehouse and Joar attends school.
The musical holds additional significance for them as Trung's mother came to Sweden during the war depicted in the show.
