Birgitta Lindh, a cantor in Falköping, Sweden, has a severe hearing loss but has worked as a musician for 25 years. She has a congenital hearing impairment discovered when she was four years old, and she relies on hearing aids to hear anything. Without them, she is essentially deaf.
Lindh says music means everything to her, and she has disproved skeptics who doubted she could work with music. Many churchgoers are unaware of her dependence on technology, and she sometimes removes her hearing aids at home to rest in silence.
