Two fake police officers visited an elderly woman in her 80s in Stora Mossen, Stockholm, and stole gold and other valuables worth tens of thousands of kronor. m. on February 24, and the woman's son later alerted the police.

A police patrol went to the woman's home, conducted an interview, and filed a report for aggravated fraud and impersonation of a public official. The fraud began with the woman receiving a text message that appeared to be from a home care company, but she did not recognize the details about cleaning in the message. She called back a phone number provided in the text and spoke with people who warned about fraud and said police would come to her home to collect her gold.

Shortly after, the fake police officers arrived. The police advise always verifying a company's phone number independently and never calling back numbers from unexpected texts or emails, noting that neither police, insurance companies, security firms, nor other serious actors make home visits to collect gold from private individuals.
