Facial enhancements lead UK cosmetic surgery trends
Key Points
  • Facial enhancements are the fastest rising cosmetic surgeries in 2025.
  • Breast augmentation declined by 8%, while reductions and implant removals rose.
  • Labiaplasty increased by 6%, gluteal procedures dropped by 38%.

The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS) reported that facial enhancements are the fastest rising cosmetic surgeries in the UK in 2025. Brow lifts increased by 27% and eyelift surgery rose by 8%, according to BAAPS. Rajiv Grover, former BAAPS president, said the rise in facial procedures is linked to 'Ozempic face' caused by rapid weight loss from drugs like Ozempic.

Breast augmentation remains the most popular cosmetic surgery in the UK but declined by 8% in 2025, BAAPS said. For the first time, breast reductions and implant removals have overtaken breast enlargements, according to BAAPS. There were 4,673 breast reduction procedures and 847 implant removals in 2025, BAAPS reported. Nora Nugent, BAAPS president, said: 'For the first time, we are seeing the number of patients undergoing breast reduction and implant removal surpass those opting for augmentation. This reflects a broader shift away from exaggerated curves towards a more natural silhouette, one that better complements active lifestyles and the continued rise of athleisure fashion.'

Other notable trends include a 6% increase in labiaplasty procedures in 2025, BAAPS reported. Superficial Gluteal Lipofilling (SGL) decreased by 38% in 2025, BAAPS said. Overall, there were 26,840 cosmetic procedures performed in total in 2025, a 2% drop from the previous year, according to BAAPS.

Women accounted for 93.9% of all cosmetic procedures in 2025, BAAPS reported. Rhinoplasty for men declined by 18% to 273 procedures in 2025, according to BAAPS.

In my practice, patients most commonly cite discomfort during exercise and concerns around visibility in more form-fitting clothing, such as gym wear. Notably, many older women share that they have only recently become aware of labiaplasty as a solution to symptoms they have experienced for years.

The trends are set against a backdrop of widespread weight-loss drug use. An estimated 1.6 million UK adults were on weight-loss drugs from early 2024 to early 2025, according to a Metro report. Rajiv Grover, former BAAPS president, said the rise in facial procedures is linked to the effects of these drugs, as rapid weight loss leads to loss of facial fat and sagging skin, prompting patients to seek corrective surgeries.
