Sherrone Moore, the former head football coach at the University of Michigan, was fired on December 10 after the school learned of an alleged affair between him and a football staffer, according to multiple reports. That same day, police arrested Moore near an apartment belonging to Paige Shiver after a 911 call reported he had entered her residence and threatened to harm himself.

Moore pleaded no contest to misdemeanor counts of trespassing and malicious use of a telecom device in a relationship, multiple sources reported. Felony home invasion and stalking charges were dropped by Michigan prosecutors. He received an 18-month probation sentence; prison sentences of 180 days and 30 days were suspended.

Here is a man who has devoted himself to working hard to get where he needs to be. And I can tell you that this is a man who will continue his path and continue his journey, and he will do what it takes to get there.

Paige Shiver, who was Moore's executive assistant and alleged mistress, accused him of having 'complete control' over her and said she could not 'get out' of the relationship, according to her statement. Shiver also claimed that Moore threatened her with knives and that she feared for her life. In a separate account, according to Shiver, she was forced to have an abortion after the affair.

Shiver released a statement accusing the University of Michigan of failing to protect her from 'years of manipulation, harassment, and exploitation.' Her attorney, Andrew Stroth, said Moore 'took advantage of a younger, female employee' and that leadership failed to act for years, according to Stroth.

I mean, here's a man that had complete control over me, over my emotions, over my career. He knew that and he used it against me. Every time I tried to pull away, every time I tried to try get out of Michigan, he always had a story, always had a way to pull me in and making me feel that I couldn't leave him because he was so miserable without me.

Moore's attorney, Ellen Michaels, said the felony charges were baseless and that 'the system worked.' Moore admitted to bringing scissors and grabbing butter knives at Shiver's apartment but denied pointing them at her or threatening her, according to multiple reports.

December 10th was the most terrifying day of my life. The criminal acts he committed were extremely frightening and violent. He broke into my apartment, crying, yelling, enraged, and came at me with knives. I was threatened, and I feared for my life.
