The arrest is part of Operation Duet, two separate investigations into corporate manslaughter and gross negligence manslaughter at the Countess of Chester Hospital. The inquiry began after Letby's 2023 conviction for murdering seven infants and attempting to murder seven others in the neonatal unit in 2015 and 2016. Letby, 35, from Hereford, is serving 15 whole life prison sentences. She was convicted of making two attempts to kill one of the babies.
Det Supt Paul Hughes said the corporate manslaughter investigation focused on senior leadership and decision-making to determine criminality concerning the response to increased fatalities. On Wednesday 22nd April, Cheshire Police executed a search warrant at a property in connection with Operation Duet. An individual was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. The individual has been bailed pending further enquiries.
