The European Parliament is expected to vote on a common EU consent law at the end of April. The law would make sex without consent illegal across the EU. Among Swedish EU parliamentarians, there is strong support for a European consent law similar to Sweden's.
Two committees have already voted on this, with only Charlie Weimers of the Sweden Democrats voting against. The responsible commissioner, Hadja Lahbib, says the so-called Pelicot case in France has made several member states more positive toward such a law.
