Eskilstuna Municipality is demanding a total stop to large emissions of the toxic substance methylene chloride by Senior Material in Eskilstuna. The municipality wants the Environmental Assessment Delegation to revoke the company's environmental permit. In mid-March, the delegation decided to tighten temporary rules for methylene chloride emissions at Senior Material's factory in Eskilstuna.

On Monday, the municipal board appealed the decision and demands that the emissions be stopped, according to a press release from the board. If the delegation does not agree to stop the emissions, the municipal board wants them to be significantly lower than what the current permit allows. The municipality also wants the company to be forced to measure the emissions and make the results available to the public.
