A protest movement called 'Elupproret' (The Electricity Uprising) is reportedly spreading across Norrbotten County, with a manifestation planned for next week in Luleå. According to local media reports, the movement originated from Jokkmokk and was started by a group of engaged women, including Luleå resident Eva Holmbom who has roots in the area. The protest is directed against high electricity prices, with organizers arguing it's unfair that residents in areas where electricity is produced face the highest costs.
Holmbom reportedly stated, 'It's unfair that we who live where the electricity is produced should have the highest costs,' while also emphasizing the need to consider the region's cold climate. The movement has established a Facebook group called Elupproret which currently has 2,600 followers. A manifestation is planned to take place at Gula paviljongen in Luleå next week.
