Swedish electricity trading company Bixia has issued a warning about persistently high electricity prices continuing into March, according to reports. The company, represented by Daniel Rydström and Johan Sigvardsson, attributes the price surge to the cold and dry winter weather that has increased electricity consumption by approximately ten percent. 10 kronor per kilowatt-hour across all electricity areas, a significant increase from last year's 68 öre.
The prolonged cold spell, combined with factors including windless conditions, low water levels in dams, and increased electricity exports, has driven prices upward. Meanwhile, data shows that more Swedish households are opting for fixed-price electricity contracts, with the number of such agreements doubling in Norrbotten during February compared to previous years. Electricity analyst Krisztian Horvath suggests that even summer prices may remain higher than in previous years, though uncertainty remains about whether prices will return to previous levels.
