Interest in rechargeable cars in Örebro County, Sweden, has increased by 26 percent in one year, according to figures from the authority Trafikanalys. The figures for rechargeable cars cover 2024 to 2025 and include both pure electric cars and plug-in hybrids. Many buyers cite environmental aspects and economics as reasons for purchasing rechargeable cars.
David Svanborg, CEO of Toyota Örebro, says the focus is on both personal finances, meaning operating costs, and environmental issues, with new technology being the main reason today compared to safety a decade ago. The national emissions database shows that in Örebro County, the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions is transport, with over 446,000 tons in 2023, primarily from passenger cars, followed by heavy and light trucks. Despite electric cars still being more expensive to buy than gasoline or diesel cars, the trend appears to be continuing toward more and more types of electric cars.
