Eddie Genborg, an 18-year-old forward, has signed an NHL contract with the Detroit Red Wings. He will finish the season playing for the Grand Rapids Griffins in the AHL. Genborg was drafted by the Red Wings as the 44th pick in the summer of 2025.
He played for Timrå in the SHL this season, where he reportedly scored 25 points in 43 games, and was part of Sweden's gold-winning team at the World Junior Championships, where he reportedly had eight points in seven games. His contract with Detroit is reportedly a three-year entry-level deal that starts next season. According to reports, Linköping will receive compensation because Genborg played 75% of his time there over the last four seasons.
