Deputy Prime Minister Ebba Busch (KD) will visit Sollefteå to present news significant for the hospital and healthcare in the region, according to a government press release. She is scheduled to meet with staff at Sollefteå hospital. Sollefteå's municipal councilor Emelie Wrede (C) stated that regional and municipal leadership will be present, but she did not know more details at the time.
Previously, Sollefteå municipality proposed to the region to jointly take responsibility for all healthcare in the municipality, but the region declined. The municipality then turned to the state with an offer for a preparedness hospital. Former healthcare minister Acko Ankarberg (KD), who resigned in 2025, has twice urged Region Västernorrland to reconsider its decision on major cutbacks at Sollefteå hospital.
