Key Points
  • Crenguta Aruxandei pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by careless driving
  • Her Audi cut into a military convoy, causing a Land Rover to crash and injure two people
  • She received a suspended prison sentence, driving ban, and other penalties

The incident occurred on January 10 last year when Aruxandei's grey Audi Q2 cut into the path of a military convoy on the A43 at Hulcote, causing a pile-up. The driver of a green Land Rover Defender swerved violently to avoid a collision with her Audi, leading the Land Rover and its trailer to smash into the central reservation and roll multiple times. The 36-year-old driver was thrown from the vehicle and sustained a suspected fractured back, requiring transport to University Hospital Coventry, while the 31-year-old male passenger suffered a significant head injury and was taken to Northampton General Hospital.

Aruxandei was sentenced to a six-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, at Northampton Crown Court earlier this month. She also received a 12-month driving ban, was ordered to pass an extended re-test, and must pay a £154 victim surcharge. Northamptonshire Police released dashcam video of the incident.
