The Danish Deaf Association has submitted a citizen proposal that press briefings with socially important information should be sign language interpreted. During the pandemic, press briefings with socially important information were sign language interpreted, but now the sign language interpretation has largely disappeared, according to responsible persons at the Danish Deaf Association. They argue that deaf people now do not receive important information about crises and preparedness in the same way as the rest of the population.
If 50,000 people support the proposal, it will be sent to the Folketing. All legislative proposals must then be processed three times in the Folketing before they can be adopted by a majority. This is reported by DR.
