A Swedish woman whose mother was killed in the 2016 Brussels terror attacks has been posthumously recognized as the 36th victim of the attacks, according to Swedish media reports. The woman, who lived in Brussels, lost her mother when two suicide bombers detonated explosives at the airport terminal building. A third terrorist attacked the Maelbeek metro station.
The mother had been visiting her daughter in Brussels at the time of the attacks. The daughter reportedly took her own life earlier this year and is now officially classified as a victim of the 2016 attacks that shook Belgium. Her name has been engraved on a memorial plaque at Brussels airport, according to reports from Belgian broadcaster RTBF.
The recognition comes as Belgium marks the 10th anniversary of the attacks, with several ceremonies being held across the country to commemorate the victims.
