Bosse Andersson has stepped down as sporting director of Djurgarden IF, the club announced at a press conference. He will remain with the club as an advisor to chairman Erik Gozzi. Andersson, 57, had been sporting director since 2013, and his departure follows earlier reports speculating about his exit.
During his tenure, Djurgarden won the Swedish Cup in 2018, the Swedish championship in 2019, and reached the Conference League semifinals last year. Under his leadership, the club reportedly went from financial crisis to becoming one of Sweden's richest football clubs. Andersson previously served as club director from 1999 to 2008, and overall spent over 23 years in leadership roles at Djurgarden, winning four Swedish championships and four cup titles.
always has a plan
His departure is part of broader changes in the club's leadership, including the recent appointments of Gozzi as chairman and Hampus Frisen as CEO. According to SVT Sport's football expert Magnus Eriksson, Andersson reportedly feels 'quite betrayed' by the situation.
