Dick Advocaat has stepped down as head coach of the Curacao national football team. The decision comes four months before the World Cup, reportedly due to his daughter's health problems. Advocaat, 78, led Curacao to its first-ever World Cup qualification, a significant achievement for a country with a population of approximately 150,000.
He stated that family comes before football, according to reports. He will be replaced by Dutchman Fred Rutten, who last coached PSV in 2023. Curacao is set to face Germany, Ivory Coast, and Ecuador in the World Cup group stage.
