According to the Daily Mail, Dianna Russini rescued a 73-year-old man and his dog from a car crash in suburban Wyckoff, New Jersey, on Wednesday. The incident occurred when a 17-year-old in a Honda Civic turned onto a street and collided with the elderly man's Jeep, flipping the 4x4 onto its side and leaving him and his dog stuck inside. An eyewitness claimed that Russini ran out and had a tall man put her on top of the Jeep to open the door before they pulled the driver and his dog out.
Police arrived at the scene shortly after, but the current status of their investigation and the condition of the elderly man and his dog remain unknown. This heroic act comes amid controversy surrounding Russini's professional life. She resigned from The Athletic on Tuesday amid claims she had an affair with NFL coach Mike Vrabel.
Russini and Vrabel have denied having an affair and downplayed what images appeared to depict. The fallout extended to another journalist on Thursday, when NFL writer Crissy Froyd was fired by USA Today for taking a shot at Russini over her Athletic resignation.
