Derelict Brocklands Adventure Park Found Overgrown by Urban Explorers
Key Points
  • Brocklands Adventure Park operated from 1977 to 2007, founded by Dennis and Sue Vanstone, and attracted up to 50,000 visitors per season.
  • The park expanded over the years with rebrandings, new attractions like a miniature railway and restaurant, and housed various animals.
  • Urban explorers found the site derelict, with items like an archery range, rodent traps, a kiwi tree, and taxidermy posters, indicating decay and infestation.

The park underwent significant expansion and rebranding over the years. In 1987, it was rebranded as Pixieland Funpark, and by 1990, it had added a 15-inch gauge miniature railway, pony rides, trampolines, and an all-weather playground. In March 1997, Pip's Place, a new restaurant seating 200 guests, was unveiled. Further attractions included a ten-pin bowling alley, archery center, crazy golf, quad biking, bumper boats, and a mega tube slide. The park housed animals such as rabbits, ducks, iguanas, snakes, parrots, and a raccoon. In 2000, the park was renamed Brocklands Adventure Park, solidifying its status as a full theme park. The current ownership status of the site and any preservation or demolition plans remain unclear, as do the fates of the animals after the 2007 closure.

Today, the site is derelict and overgrown with vines and weeds. Urban explorers from the YouTube channel Street Zips found an old archery range with items like soap dispensers, a bow and arrow, drawers, plugs, fuses, and smart plugs. According to Daily Express - Travel, Street Zips described hearing a squeak, possibly from a rat, in the archery range. The explorers also found rodent trap boxes, indicating an infestation. According to Daily Express - Travel, Street Zips described the trap as serious with a spring. In their exploration, they discovered a kiwi tree still producing fruit. In a former animal enclosure, the explorers saw posters of creatures for a taxidermy display made only from roadkill, and they found old pheasant feathers on the floor. What development plans were mentioned for 2021 and what specific awards the park won during its operation are unknown.

There are soap dispensers, we found a bow and arrow in here. There're drawers here, we've got plugs and fuses - and smart plugs - one of the things that go on your wrist to stop you getting whacked by the bow.

Listen-listen - can you hear it? Yeah like a rat is it - I heard a squeak. The rustiness of the drawers are really cool as well. You would pay a fortune for that for a movie set piece.

They've obviously got an infestation of something here. That's a serious trap isn't it. There's some spring on that.
