On Saturday, the 2026 Allsvenskan season begins. Before the football players have woken up in the morning, Degerfors IF's team leader Stig "Stisse" Ekman is on his way from Karlstad to fix breakfast for them. He says he thinks it's fun and that it keeps him young.
Stisse has been part of Degerfors IF since the 1960s. Much has changed since he played, when most players worked at the mill and trained only twice a week before matches. Nowadays, players train almost every day and football has become a full-time job where breakfast is served when they show up at half past eight.
