Prosecutors said Silvey took photos of himself inside his home office. Police raided his home in January, and according to a police spokesperson via the Daily Mail, he was actively engaging with child abusers online. Court documents showed he communicated with other paedophiles on adult sites using an alias. Silvey initially refused to cooperate, police stated, denying them access to his phone and laptop. It remains unclear how police first became aware of his online activities.
Two additional charges of possessing and producing child exploitation material were dismissed, court documents indicated. Bail was set with a $100,000 surety and a $100,000 personal undertaking, according to court records, and extended until sentencing scheduled for July 3. The specific nature of the photographs has not been publicly detailed.
