The Administrative Court in Luleå has ordered a temporary halt to licensed lynx hunting in Jämtland County, according to information published by the County Administrative Board. The decision came on Monday morning following a ruling from the Administrative Court of Appeal in Sundsvall. The appellate court had previously decided to temporarily suspend lynx hunting in central and southern predator management areas.

The Administrative Court in Luleå determined there were grounds to also suspend the hunt in Jämtland County. The hunting season had begun on March 1, and seven animals were reportedly killed before the suspension took effect. The hunt had been appealed last week, but was not stopped at that time.
