The recall was announced in a recent notice to shoppers, with an ingredient supplied by Griffith Food Inc. potentially contaminated. The affected meatloaf products have sell by dates between March 5 and March 16, 2026, and were sold at Costco stores between March 2 and March 13, 2026.
The recall affects 26 states and Puerto Rico. No illnesses have been reported due to the meatloaf, and Costco is urging customers to throw away the product or return it for a full refund. In a separate action, pizza and bread sold in 10 states have been recalled over concerns of metal shards, with Hello Fresh's Basil Pesto and Mozzarella Pizza and Trader Joe's Focaccia Bread with Roasted Tomato & Parmesan among the affected products.
Bakkavor, a North Carolina-based company, is recalling the products after finding metal fragments in various bread products. The cause was determined to be roasted tomatoes provided by an ingredient supplier. Other recalled products include Frederik's by Meijer Slow-Roasted Tomato & Shredded Parmesan Cheese Focaccia Bread and Fresh & Simple Roasted Tomato & Parmesan Focaccia sold by Food Lion.
The recalled products were distributed to 10 states. Bakkavor issued the recall in January, but there was no press release. The FDA issued a classification for the recall earlier this week, deeming it a Class II recall.
A Class II recall is when the product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or when the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote. Additionally, Trader Joe's has also recalled several frozen products over concerns of glass contamination.
