The Swedish construction workers' union Byggnads has announced a blockade against a company working at the Stegra construction site in Boden, according to reports from SVT Norrbotten. The labor action comes in response to nearly 400,000 kronor in unpaid wages for workers who were laid off during the winter months.

Union officials state that despite repeated demands, the company has refused to pay its members their due salaries. Many construction workers at the Stegra site in Boden were laid off during December and January due to reduced activity at the construction site, but have reportedly not received their layoff compensation.

Emil Persson, Byggnads' contract secretary, told SVT Norrbotten: "Despite pressure, the company has refused to pay our members." The wage blockade took effect on Friday, March 13 at 07:00, meaning union members are not to perform any work until the company pays the outstanding wages.

Joakim Lindholm, chairman of Byggnads Norrbotten, emphasized that the company has had plenty of work at Stegra in recent years and must ensure timely payment to employees. "Our members should not have to bear the financial burden when the company has reduced order volume," Lindholm stated.
