A 23-year-old construction student has been awarded 152,000 kronor in compensation from Kammarkollegiet after suffering severe injuries in a scaffolding fall during an internship in Ronneby. According to SVT Blekingenytt, the incident occurred in autumn 2023 when the student was dismantling scaffolding and was reportedly told by colleagues that safety harnesses were not needed because the remaining guardrail was sufficient. The student slipped and fell over the rail, with his helmet coming off during the fall.
He sustained multiple fractures to his wrist, collarbone, and ribs, along with a punctured lung and head injuries. Following emergency treatment, surgery, and rehabilitation, the 23-year-old reportedly continues to experience mobility difficulties and lives with chronic pain. ' Kammarkollegiet has awarded compensation for bodily scars and ongoing injuries, and will reportedly make a separate decision regarding head scarring.
