Karlskrona municipality has confirmed that approximately 70 employees within the education department will be laid off due to declining numbers of children and students. The layoffs primarily affect preschool staff, including childcare workers, as well as student assistants, student guides, and school resources in primary education.
According to official statements, the municipality initially identified around 160 positions as redundant but managed to reduce the number through transfers, reassignments, and other solutions. The affected individuals will receive their notices in the coming week.
