Center Party leader Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist has rejected an offer of cooperation from the Left Party ahead of the 2026 parliamentary election. The rejection comes after the Liberal Party announced its decision to cooperate with the Sweden Democrats, prompting Left Party leader Nooshi Dadgostar to extend an invitation to the Center Party to discuss forming a 'united team.'
In an interview with SVT's Agenda program, Thand Ringqvist stated: 'We haven't even had time to respond to it, but I have said that we are not interested in sitting down and cooperating ahead of the election.' According to the Center Party leader, the reason for the rejection is that the parties have 'such different views on economic policy.'
We haven't even had time to respond to it, but I have said that we are not interested in sitting down and cooperating ahead of the election.
Thand Ringqvist also dismissed the notion that the Liberal Party's decision has reshaped the political landscape, stating: 'It was quite obvious that the Liberal Party would do what they did.' The Left Party's outreach to the Center Party represents an attempt to create alternative political alliances following the Liberal Party's alignment with the Sweden Democrats.
It was quite obvious that the Liberal Party would do what they did.
