Cat Jarman, a 44-year-old Norwegian archaeologist and academic, is the partner of Earl Charles Spencer and lives at Althorp House, according to multiple reports. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2016 while pursuing her PhD. Jarman sued Karen Spencer for revealing her medical condition to Earl Spencer, Althorp staff, and staff at her daughter's school. After the lawsuit, Jarman walked out of the High Court in London feeling vindicated, major media reported.
In a separate development, a portrait of Karen Spencer was removed from Althorp House. Additionally, her initials, which were woven into the carpet at the top of the grand staircase, had to be rewoven. According to Daily Mail - News, Cat Jarman described the removal of her own portrait as "not really my thing," adding that she does not feel the need to make a mark on the estate.
Not really my thing. And I've thought about this. This is Charles's world, and it's obviously very interesting, and I'm respectful of it, but I don't feel that this place is about me. I don't feel any need to have a portrait up, or make a mark on it. I find it quite... quirky but odd.
There was one, but it's no longer here.
as is everyone's right
