Gib is one of five Palestine Action activists, known as the 'Brize Norton 5', accused of spray-painting two RAF Voyager planes at RAF Brize Norton, causing an estimated £7 million in damage. Gib recently ended a 48-day hunger strike that led to a weight loss of over 10kg. The hunger strike demanded an end to Elbit Systems' operations in the UK.
Campaigners including author Sally Rooney and climate activist Greta Thunberg have appealed for Gib's bail, but the outcome of the latest hearing at the Old Bailey remains unknown. Co-defendant Umer Khalid has suffered organ failure and can no longer walk, raising concerns about Gib's own health while detained at HMP Bronzefield. According to the Daily Mirror, Gib described conditions as restrictive, being locked in a cell for 23 hours a day, and noted that Khalid has deteriorated to the point of being unable to walk.
