According to Swedish media reports, Mazzarella was apprehended in a luxury villa in Vietri sul Mare on the Amalfi Coast. The arrest reportedly took place under calm circumstances.

Mazzarella had been on the run since January of last year before his capture. The clan faction that Mazzarella reportedly led is known for counterfeiting operations and other criminal activities. In a related development, 16 individuals with connections to the clan were arrested as recently as March on suspicion of online fraud schemes.
