The renovation and upgrading of Brunnsparken will be completely finished at the end of next year. New features for park visitors when finished include a completely new playground with zip lines and circus wagons, a new parking lot, new plantings, a new illuminated walking loop, and an outdoor gym. Gustav Älgå is the project manager for the renovation and upgrading.
Brunnsparken has a long history as a spa facility during the 18th century and a folk park during the 1930s and has great cultural-historical value, both regarding buildings and the green park with valuable trees. Gustav Älgå grew up in Adolfsberg and remembers the old playgrounds in the park where he played a lot during his childhood. The park is being renovated in several stages to be able to continue keeping Brunnsparken open.
An immediate new attraction, the wheel play area in the eastern part of the park will be inaugurated on Tuesday, March 31. At the inauguration, there will be a treasure hunt with candy for children and grilled sausages, and there will be a ribbon-cutting at 2:00 PM during the inauguration. In the wheel play area, people can ride skateboards, scooters, or other wheeled equipment, both in ramps and along the track previously used for pedal cars.
The wheel play area includes a station building bearing traces of the old train station that previously existed on the site. Existing recreational features already in place include a skate park and a giant slide. Park accessibility improvements include the removal of the fence and the addition of more entrances to the park.
A new parking lot for visitors with cars will be established next to the northern entrance. An open grassy area for events and activities will be created at Teaterplan. Ponds and fountains will be renovated and Brunnsbäcken will get new life.
Political oversight involves Johan Kumlin (M) as the chairman of the Technical and Service Committee, and Kemal Hoso (S) as a municipal councilor responsible for community building. Specific details about the completion date remain unclear, as the phrase 'the end of next year' could refer to December 2025 or another month, and the exact budget or total cost of the Brunnsparken renovation project has not been disclosed. Additional uncertainties include whether there are any specific environmental or historical preservation challenges faced during the renovation and how the renovation stages will impact public access to different parts of the park over time.
