Bronze Age Mines in Spain May Trace Origins of Scandinavian Bronze Artifacts

Archaeologists from the University of Gothenburg have discovered six Bronze Age mines in southwestern Spain, near Cabeza del Buey in Badajoz province. The mines, ranging from small extraction sites to larger operations up to 200 by 50 meters, contain copper, lead, and silver. These findings could help identify the sources of metals used in Scandinavian Bronze Age artifacts, shedding light on long-distance trade networks in Europe during that period.
