Aaron Nomicas, a 20-year-old British Army soldier, kicked a homeless woman in the face in an unprovoked attack. The attack occurred around 3am on January 17 in Salisbury City Centre, Wiltshire. The victim was a homeless woman in her 50s, described as 'incredibly vulnerable', who was sitting with her dog Lance in Market Walk, trying to keep warm.

The victim suffered facial injuries that are not thought to be life-changing. CCTV footage shows Nomicas suddenly running at the woman and kicking her with force, causing her head to fling back. After the kick, the victim called Nomicas a 'coward', and he tried to run at her again before being restrained by his friends.

The attack was reported to police the same day, and Nomicas was quickly identified and arrested. Nomicas pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court on March 6 and was jailed for six months. ' The Ministry of Defence has been approached for comment.
